Imperial Prussian Miner's Saber by ACS Alcoso Solingen

This Imperial Prussian Miner's Saber is stamped on the reverse blade ricasso. Maker on the blade is ACS Solingen.

Grip: The grip is the black celluloid variety, over a carved wood base. It is wrapped with triple twisted brass wire, the center being slightly larger. The wiring is all there and looks good. The hilt has a completely smooth pommel, backstrap, "P" guard and teardrop quillon. The only detail on the entire hilt is the application of an applied highly detailed crown resting over a pair of crossed hammers. The pins which retain these insignia are pushed through the langet and can be seen from the opposite side.

Blade: The blade of this example is a near mint, high-quality nickel plate measuring 82 cm in length. The reverse ricasso has the Alcoso Solingen stamping with the firm's initials below, "ACS". The leather washer is in place.

Scabbard: The scabbard shell is an all-leather example, which has decorative lines on the edges of the obverse and reverse and it is sewn-up the rear. This leather shows quite a bit of age. The shell has two mountings which are also plain gilded brass being the same as the hilt. These mounts have scalloped edges where they meet the leather. These mounts are staple held and the staple is missing from the top example. It enables the viewer to see that the number beneath the staples is, "2".
