SA Dagger [Early Version] by Carl Tillmann & Sons Solingen
This SA [Sturmabteilung] Dagger in NEAR MINT condition. Model 1933. The total length is 37.2 cm. Early Nickel fittings, lower guard with «P» stamp. The Dagger has the very rare maker mark [4 of 5] on the blade: Carl Tillmann & Söhne Solingen.
Grip: The High Ridge construction grip is in perfect condition, fitting the guards like a glove. The SA runes button is nicely placed and retains perfect enamel. The nickel grip eagle is the style with a slightly upturned beak. This bird retains full detailing throughout the head, breast and wing feathering, talons and wreathed mobile swastika. The nickel crossguards are in beautiful condition throughout, and the tang nut looks to have been out only once or twice. The lower reverse crossguard is Gruppe marked “P”.
Blade: The blade of this dagger is mirror-bright, with all of the original crossgrain and a needle-like tip. The SA motto is crisp, deep, and dark. The reverse ricasso is etched with the rarely seen trademark of this manufacturer; “Carl Tillmanns Söhne Solingen” arches above a running fox. Beneath the animal is the word “Lux”. The blade shoulders perfectly meet the lower crossguard contour.
Scabbard: The scabbard shell one of the nicest you’ll see. It is completely straight and easily retains 100% of the original “anodized” finish. The factory lacquer also looks to be about 98% intact, having only a few traces of carrying wear on the surfaces. The scabbard mounts are in choice condition through to the lower ball, retained by the four original and unturned nickel screws.
