German Luftwaffe Officers Sword - Paul Wayersberg & Co. Solingen

Luftwaffe 1st model Fliegerschwert by Paul Weyersberg & Co. Solingen. This 1st model fliegerschwert features a gilt sunwheel swastika pommel cap with a down-turned three tiered winged gilt sunwheel swastika for the lower crossguard. The blue leather grip is tightly wrapped with a double row of wire. The fliegerschwert has early nickel silver hilt and scabbard fittings. The dark blue leather on the grip and scabbard are in minimal wear and no scuffing or gauges. The bright silver finished blade measures 28.25 inches with no signs of sharpening, dings, dark spots or rust. On the reverse of the blade is the Paul Weyersberg & Co. Solingen maker's mark and the Luftwaffe acceptance stamp (Waffenamt). The blade is in near mint condition. The reverse of the blade displays the maker's mark along with the waffenamt stamp. The nickel silver lower scabbard fitting is without any flattening or dings.
